The Parkinson's
Outreach Program is a service specializing in the therapeutic management
of persons suffering from Parkinson's disease or Parkinsonism. This
program provides physical, occupational and speech therapy specifically
designed to assist those with functional disabilities resulting
from Parkinson's. The program is comprehensive in nature providing
services customized to each individual.
The day
program meets three times per week for an average of six weeks,
depending on the individual's specific needs. We provide a treatment
program one-on-one with a therapist. Our therapists are skilled
in working with Parkinson's patients to improve balance, help with
freezing and teach adaptive skills to help the individual remain
active, independent and cope with activities of daily living with
minimal assistance. We provide education and training for families
and caregivers.
We have
a free aftercare program to encourage patients to continue to exercise
with the therapists and for social support. All therapies and therapists
are provided by Access Quality Therapy Services in office space
they have donated to POP, and also billing Medicare and some secondary
insurance providers.
